Measurement



Weighing and measuring equipment used for trade must be approved under the Weights and Measures Act 1987. This is to ensure the equipment will not facilitate fraud and is suitable for trade use.

Some fully automatic equipment is exempt from this requirement.

Approvals Database

Before weighing and measuring instruments can be used they need to be tested and approved.

The online Approvals Database provides industry with information on the approval of these instruments.

The database lets you search for information either on completed approval certificates or on approved components.
